Paducah, Ky.–A Grand Rivers man is in custody, accused of killing a woman in a Paducah parking lot early Sunday morning after a domestic dispute.
James D. Vanvactor, age 49, was arrested on charges of murder/domestic violence; resisting arrest; leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid.
The victim was Angella M. Hale, age 48, of Calvert City, who was found dead in the parking lot of the Paducah-McCracken County Convention and Expo Center.
According to Paducah Police, a man called police about 3:10 a.m. Sunday after he saw a woman lying in the parking lot of the convention center. Officers found the woman dead, and a recreational vehicle parked in the same lot. A man, identified as James Vanvactor, was sitting in the driver’s seat of the RV.
Surveillance video from the convention center shows Vanvactor and the woman, Angella Hale, arguing shortly after 1 a.m. Hale sat down behind the RV, and the two continued talking. Vanvacter walked to the front of the RV and got into the driver’s seat, put the vehicle in reverse and backed over Hale with both front and rear wheels. He then parked the RV and remained inside. He did not check on Hale, or call for medical help.
Hale’s body was discovered two hours later by the reporting party.
Vanvacter was arrested on the above-listed charges and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
