Blood Donors Needed: Type O Blood In Jeopardy

LIFELINE Blood Services is asking for the public’s help with the blood supply. The supply of type O blood is in jeopardy.
LIFELINE Public Relations Coordinator Cherie Hale said, “Right now, there are no units of O negative on the shelves and only seven units of O positive.  O is the cornerstone of the blood supply since more of the population has type O blood it is needed more often. Also, O blood is used in emergency situations more than any other type.  It is imperative that people in our community step up and give blood this week, to rebuild this life-saving blood supply.”

There is no other way for blood to be available for patients than for volunteers to give it. Please call
800-924-6572 to see if you are eligible to donate blood.

The LIFELINE Bloodmobile will be in the following locations this week:
Today, October 2, TVEC in Savannah from 12-6 p.m.
