Smithland, Ky.—A Union City juvenile is in custody in Livingston County, Ky., after leading police officers on a high-speed chase.
The 17-year-old was observed by Deputy Shannon Edging traveling eastbound on U.S. Hwy. 60 at a very high rate of speed. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver began driving even faster and attempted to elude the deputy as he began traveling east over the Smithland Bridge.
According to the press release, the pursuit lasted for some 10 miles and reached speeds in excess of 100mph. Deputy Edging was able to put the driver’s vehicle out of service as he slowed to negotiate a series of curves just west of Burna, KY. There were no injuries.
The juvenile has been charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (felony), Reckless Driving, Speeding over 26 mph, Fleeing and Evading, Improper Passing, No Use of Turn Signal and Criminal Mischief.
The juvenile is housed in the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
