Dover, Tenn –Local volunteers and scouts will devote part of Saturday, September 28, to help Fort Donelson National Battlefield park staff with some park improvement projects.
Volunteers will help improve the trail system through Fort Donelson National Battlefield by marking trees with reflective directional signage. Trails will also be cleaned of any trash found along the way. The event will last from 9 am until approximately 11:00 a.m.
National Public Lands Day is the largest coast-to-coast, single day volunteer restoration program in America. Last year, over 120,000 volunteers helped to build bridges and trails, plant trees, and remove trash and invasive plants at thousands of sites across the nation and in every state.
Interested groups or individuals should meet at the park’s visitor center located at 120 Fort Donelson Park Road in Dover, TN by 8:45 am on the day of the event. Tools and equipment will be provided by the park staff.
