Henry Co. Tourism Ranked #30 Out Of 95 Counties In Tennessee

Paris, Tenn.- The impact of tourism is growing in Henry County, with the county now ranked #30 out of the 95 counties in Tennessee.
Paris-Henry County Chamber Executive Director Travis McLeese made the announcement Thursday morning during the board of directors meeting at the Chamber office. McLeese received the data at the 2019’s Govenor’s Conference for Tourism earlier this month.
The report shows that Henry County experienced 2.29% increase in Tourism Revenue from 2017-18, increasing from $57.26M to $58.57M, a $1.3M increase.
“These numbers are a result of a collaborate team effort”, McLeese said. “Our community has had to be very creative over the past year to overcome the obstacles that Asian Carp and the State Park Inn remodel have presented to our economy. These numbers prove the impact tourism makes on each household in Henry County.”
McLeese said, “If it were not for state and local taxes generated by tourism, each Henry County household would pay $802.17 more in taxes, $549 local and $253 state and those dollars affect everyone.”
The state of Tennessee experienced a 6% increase in travel expenditures for a total of $22.02 Billion, continuing as the state’s second largest industry. For a copy of the economic impact of Travel of Tennessee, visit industry.tnvacation.com or contact the Chamber at 642-3431.
