Paris, Tenn.–Workers from Tri Turf Sod were busy Thursday laying sod at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, signaling that the ongoing upgrades at the Tower are almost complete. Paris Parks and Recreation Director Tony Lawrence said a handrail is still to be installed on the new stairway and a kiosk with information about other points of interest in Paris and Henry County will be placed by the Tower and then the project will be done.
The upgrades include a circular sidewalk around the Eiffel Tower, sidewalks that are ADA compliant on both sides of the Eiffel Tower and a mini-stage that can be used to speakers or small groups of performers.
The project is being financed with a Tourism Enhancement grant.
