Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dyersburg Police have identified a person of interest in the threat which caused Dyersburg High School to be placed on lockdown Wednesday.
A report of a threat was received before 11 a.m. and the school was immediately placed on lockdown. As an extensive search of the building and grounds, nothing threatening was found.
Dyersburg Police remain on patrol at the campus.
Dyersburg Police Chief Steve Isbell has issued the following statement:
“The Dyersburg Police Department has identified a person of interest in the threat of violence called in today against Dyersburg High School around 11:00 a.m. The threat prompted a large police response and lockdown of the school for an extended period of time.”
“Detectives of the Dyersburg Police Department identified a person of interest who is currently in another State. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains active.”
“Based on the early stages of the investigation, it appears that the person of interest was not in Dyersburg at the time the threat was made.”
