Union City Baseball Program Is Tobacco-Free

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director

Union City, Tenn.–The Union City baseball program – both high school and middle school — is now “Tobacco Free.”

The Golden Tornadoes have committed to the Tennessee Department of Health’s “We Struck Out Tobacco” program.

In conjunction with TNSTRONG, (Tennessee Stop Tobacco and Revolutionize Our New Generation), Union City baseball team members at both the high school and middle school signed a tobacco-free pledge. They promised not to use any type of tobacco or electronic cigarette, including vaping.

The program will receive an all-weather banner, declaring the team tobacco-free, and will also receive a TNSTRONG five-gallon bucket filled with TSSAA-approved Wilson baseballs.

Members of the UCHS baseball team include: (from left) Silas Petty, Austin Brundige, Caleb Garland, Ashton Westmoreland, Gunnar Cheatham, Kase Ross, Jon Brayden Powers, Dylan Coffey, Tucker Rivers, Dalton Bone, Gannon Searcy, Gabriel Qualls, Jacob Callens, Chase Norton, Hayden Searcy, Gunnar Presson and Carter Watts.
