Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Chief Engineer Josh McCaslin, along with George Miller and Derek Hart, also from the BPU Engineering department, spoke with a group of local farmers Thursday afternoon afternoon about electrical safety on the farm at BPU’s first Farm Safety Week luncheon.
BPU Director of Engineering Cole Edwards welcome everyone to the event, which was held at the Henry County UT Extension office. Some 25-30 farmers were in attendance at the luncheon and heard ways to keep their workers and their livestock safe.
A whole hog was served at the luncheon: the hog was donated by Tosh Farms, Yoder’s processed it and Laird’s BBQ in Puryear cooked it.
BPU Marketing Specialist Meagan Hart said the event was a success “and it’s definitely something we’ll be looking at doing again.” Although hosted by BPU, she said, “it was a real community event. We had a lot of contributions from UT Extension, Trolinger’s, Henry County FFA, Tennessee Tractor, Tractor Supply, Tennessee811 and the Rob Minton Agency, too.”
