Celebrating PSSD's 100th Anniversary

Paris, Tenn.–The 100th anniversary of the Paris Special Schools District was celebrated Thursday night with a huge tailgate event and a commemoration during half-time at the Inman v. Henry County middle schools game.
During half-time, announcers recognized Elizabeth Covington, who has taught at PSSD for 52 years, Judy Varner who has taught there for 39 years, Coach Bob Markum, the first and only head football coach at Inman School, and the district’s superintendents over the years: J.T. Miles, Julian Brewer, William Atchison, Dr. Larry Vick, Dr. Paul Doyle, Mike Brown and current Director of Schools Dr. Norma Gerrell.
They also recognized and applauded all the former schools and current schools which have made up the Paris school system: Lee School, Atkins-Porter, Fairview, Henry County Training School, Rhea, Inman and Paris Elementary.
At half-time, all alumni, teachers and students were invited onto the field.
