Atkins-Porter Dog Park Upgrades Progressing

Paris, Tenn.–As work on the Atkins-Porter Dog Park upgrades continue, concrete was poured Thursday morning for new pads for the park. Paris Parks and Recreation Director Tony Lawrence and workers Gary “Peanut” Paschall, Joel Crosno, John Smith and Cedric Byars smoothed out the concrete poured by Southern Concrete Products.
Lawrence said this was the first concrete pour, with four pours total. “We’ll probably do two more next week,” he said.
Water lines have been installed and will be used for the water features which will include fountains for humans and canines, sprinklers and a dog washing section. City workers also have already installed the four posts that will hold the canvas shade that will be placed across both sides of the park.
The upgrades are financed by a $25,000 grant from the Randy Boyd Foundation as part of the DogParkDash competition.
