New Chancellor Jennifer King Resigns

Huntingdon, Tenn.—New 24th District Chancellor Jennifer King of Huntingdon has resigned her position just two weeks after she was nominated by Governor Bill Lee. King was sworn in as the new Chancellor Sept. 6.
Governor Lee’s office has not responded to requests for comment from WENK/WTPR and has not made a public announcement on the resignation and the process which will be followed to appoint a replacement.
The five GOP parties in the counties represented by the 24th Judicial District have voted to change their nominating process from primary to caucus and it is speculated that King’s resignation stems from that. The 24th District represents Henry, Carroll, Benton, Hardin and Decatur Counties.
King is co-founder and partner of King & King. She resides in Huntingdon with her husband, Jay.
King was appointed to replace former Chancellor Carma McGee after McGee was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Five people had applied for the Chancellor position: Rebecca Griffey, Shon Johnson, Vance Dennis, Brent Bradburry, and King. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission forwarded the names of King, Dennis and Bradburry after an interview process.
