Bostwick, K9 Rowdy Track Suspect In Wild Chase

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
Dresden, Tenn.—Two men are in custody on multiple charges after a wild chase that spanned numerous miles, two counties, and several law enforcement agencies. Both men ran off on foot and one was finally tracked in the heat and humidity by Henry County Sheriff’s Cpl. Stacey Bostwick and his K9 Rowdy. Bostwick and Rowdy have tracked suspects in several high profile cases in west Tennessee.
In custody is Cameron Antonio Taylor, age 20, of Martin, and Taja Allen, age 22, of Mason Hall.
The incident began around 4 p.m. in Dresden when Police Officer Chris Crocker was keeping watch over an area in Dresden where illegal drug activity was believed to be taking place. Crocker observed a maroon car in the area and was getting ready to make a traffic stop when he saw a gun thrown from the passenger window and the car sped off.
Weakley County Sheriff’s Investigator Randall McGowan saw the car cross Hwy. 22 and attempted to stop the car. McGowan said the vehicle led police on a lengthy chase that went on Old State Route 22 to Bynum Road, then to new State Route 22 and into Gleason.
The pair then turned onto the Gleason-Como Rd., then onto Ross Road and then the pair crossed all four lanes of Hwy. 22 without stopping, McGowan said. The pair then drove down New Valley Road and ran another vehicle into a ditch.
They then continued into McKenzie before running into a ditch on Bell Store Road, McGowan said.
At that point, both subjects got out of the car and ran into a wooded area. The vehicle was then identified as belonging to Taylor and he was caught a short time later in a field by Crocker and McGowan.
Bostwick and Rowdy were called to the scene and tracked Allen through the woods for quite awhile and Allen was finally found back on Old State Route 22 “acting as if he was helping a woman get into her house,” McGowan said.
A .38 caliber pistol with no serial number was recovered.
McGowan said the pair face numerous charges, including felony evading, reckless endangerment, being a felon in possession of a firearm and a host of traffic offenses.
Also assisting in the capture of the two was the Gleason Police Department, Gleason Police, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
