Painting Union City Purple & Gold At Homecoming Parade

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director

Union City, Tenn.–Everybody loves a parade. And the students and faculty of Union City Schools certainly did on Friday.

Those two groups were joined by a huge crowd from the community Friday afternoon for the annual Union City High School football homecoming parade.

First Street was lined with Purple and Gold as various groups made their way through downtown to Washington Avenue, where the parade ended with a pep rally led by the UCHS cheerleaders.

Each class at the high school constructed a float for the event, and both the high school and middle school cheerleaders participated, along with the football team and the Marching Golden Tornado band. Queen Caroline Conley was also a part of the festivities.

The parade concluded a week’s-worth of theme-based dress-up days and activities at the school.

Later Friday evening, the 10th-ranked Golden Tornadoes put a perfect capper on the annual ritual with a 56-6 rout of Booker T. Washington for their third straight win.
