Cherry Jones Wins Second Emmy

Los Angeles, Calif.—Paris Native Cherry Jones won her second Emmy during presentations at the Creative Emmy Awards Sunday in Los Angeles. Jones took home the Outstanding Guest Actress in a drama award for her role on “The Handmaid’s Tale”.
This is Jones’ third Emmy nomination and second win. She won Best Supporting Actress for her role as President Taylor on the television show ‘24’ in 2009.
Asked how the two wins compare, Jones told reporters backstage, “I was more nervous tonight because I didn’t realize it was the very last one of the evening and it makes you tense, you just want to get it over and done with so you can relax.”
This year, Jones was up against Jessica Lange for “American Horror Story: Apocalypse”; Cicely Tyson for “How to Get Away With Murder”; Laverne Cox for “Orange is the New Black”; Phylicia Rashad for “This is Us” and Carice van Houten for “Games of Thrones”.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will air on FXX on Saturday, September 21 at 7 p.m. Central.
The Primetime Emmy Awards will be telecast live on Fox Sunday, September 22, at 7 p.m. Central.
