Dyersburg Police Investigate Murder-Suicide

Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dyersburg Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide which early this morning. The victims were found at two different locations some 15 minutes apart.
On September 14, at approximately 12:56 a.m., Dyersburg police responded to the 600 block of Lake Road, in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon officer’s arrival, they discovered a female adult victim that had been shot. Officers also discovered two young children ages 14 and 10 inside the apartment unharmed. The victim was transported to West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg, where she was pronounced dead.

At approximately 1:16 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of St. Joseph, in reference to a male subject that had been shot. Officers discovered the victim to be deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot. The victim was identified as the boyfriend of the victim on Lake Road.


According to the press release, the investigation revealed that a domestic dispute between the two parties transpired. The dispute turned violent when the male obtained a handgun and shot the female victim fatally wounding her. The male fled the scene. 

The female victim was identified as Latosha Fields, age 38 of Dyersburg. The male victim was identified as Sedrick Moses, age 41 of Dyersburg.

The Attorney General’s Office and the Dyer County Medical Examiner Office were notified of the incident. The bodies will be sent to West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center for autopsies.
The case remains under investigation by the Dyersburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
