First Responders Honored At HCHS

Paris, Tenn.- A large group of local first responders, including firefighters, police officers, rescue squad members and ambulance squad members were welcomed to Henry County High School Wednesday morning for the HCHS Criminal Justice group’s annual salute on the anniversary of September 11th. The ceremony began with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard presenting the colors and the High School Madgrials singing the National Anthem.
Craig Peevyhouse, who has served as chaplain at HCMC and first responder for 30 years in Henry County was the guest speaker and he reminded folks to never forget the images of that day when our nation was attacked and even in the most dire of times, there were men and women running into the buildings, into the danger to try to help their fellow humans. He said that was the definition of every day heroes, what our local responders do each and every day.
Local Musician Vince Dodd, along with the Madrigals and a percussionist from the band performed Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down”. Peevyhouse encouraged students to always push through their fears and be like those responding to situations at 9/11 and what our local responders do every day.
The responders were treated to refreshments after the ceremony.
