Paris Man Tracked By Rowdy After Wild Chase

Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man is in the Henry County Jail following a wild chase late last week in which the suspect ran into a wooded area near Routon and K9 Rowdy tracked him down.
Matthew T. Hamilton, age 37, of 218 Wilson St., is charged with evading arrest, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. Bond for those charges was set at $5,000. However, he is being held without bond on a violation of probation charge.
Hamilton was arrested after the chase by Henry County Sheriff’s Cpl. Stacey Bostwick. The pursuit began on Hwy. 79S as Hamilton reportedly was driving erratically and continued down Routon Truck Stop Road. According to the report, at that point the suspect drove through a yard, jumped a ditch and crossed the railroad tracks on Cates Road.
Bostwick was able to catch up with Hamilton at the intersection of Steele Road and Hwy. 79S, but Hamilton took off again. At this point, according to the report, Bostwick could see things being thrown from the vehicle.
In the Lumber Road area, Hamilton opened the door as he was slowing speed and tried to jump out of the vehicle but fell in the process and was run over by the rear of the vehicle. Hamilton ran into the woods and Bostwick’s K9 partner Rowdy tracked Hamilton and the arrest was made.
