Calvert City, Ky.—A Marshall County man is being held on $500,000 bond, charged with drug trafficking for his alleged involvement in overdoses of two juveniles found on a houseboat at Kentucky Dam Marina over the weekend.
Stoney Hendrickson, age 25, of Moors Camp Highway, has been charged with aggravated trafficking of controlled substances laced with fentanyl.
Marshall County Sheriff Eddie McGuire told WENK/WTPR that more charges may be filed as the investigation proceeds.
Another juvenile, 14-year-old Brandon Martinez, was found dead in a slip near the houseboat and an autopsy determined accidental drowning to be the cause of death. However, toxicology reports are still being conducted, according to Sheriff McGuire, as that investigation continues under the supervision of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. McGuire explained that Fish and Wildlife takes the lead in drowning investigations.
Deputies and Fish and Wildlife personnel arrived at Kentucky Dam Marina Sunday morning on the report of a possible drowning and found Martinez in the water and discovered two unresponsive juveniles on the houseboat. Both juveniles were transported to a local hospital and McGuire said one was airlifted to Vanderbilt. Both have since been released from the hospital.
Investigators suspected that the overdoses were caused by pills appearing to be Xanax laced with fentanyl.
Detectives located Hendrickson at his residence later Sunday and upon executing a search warrant, they seized pills appearing to be Xanax with suspected fentanyl, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, firearms and over $1200 in cash.
