Dresden, Tenn.–A Dresden woman was arrested on child abuse and neglect charges after a three-year-old boy was found with second and third degree burns on his face and back in the household.
Weakley County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kay Maiullo, age 28.
According to Captain Randall McGowan, deputies were asked to perform a welfare check at 2040 Paris Hwy. 54, east of Dresden today (Thursday). When they arrived, they found the three-year-old with burns on his body. EMS and investigators were called to the scene.
Statements taken at the scene indicated a four-year-old sibling poured very hot water on the child by accident on Tuesday, but for two days no one had taken the child for treatment.
After deputies and EMS arrived, the child was airlifted by Air Evac to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
