UCES Teachers, Students Celebrate With Pep Rally

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director
Union City, Tenn.–Teachers and students at Union City Elementary School participated in a pep rally Friday, celebrating the school’s kick off in the Response To Instruction and Intervention-Behavior (RTI2B) program for the school year.
Each UCES student was given a T-shirt with a gold UC on the front and the acronym P.R.I.D.E (Prepared, Respect, Integrity, Dependable, Ensure Safety) on the back.
Students enthusiastically responded to several cheers and skits put on by the UCES faculty in the pep rally.
The goal of RTI2B is to implement school-wide positive behavioral interventions and support the plan at Union City Elementary School.
During the 2018-19 school year, the RTI2B Team worked diligently to create a universal (Tier 1) system of supports for all students in the school. These supports include clearly defined behavioral expectations, teaching these expectations to students, acknowledging appropriate behavior, and correcting inappropriate behavior.
