Broadband Coming To Stewart Co. With CEMC

Dover, Tenn.–Some 175 Stewart Countians were on hand for announcements today from the Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (CEMC) that broadband access is coming soon and that they first subscriber may be connected as early as January 2020.
Speakers at the Broadband event in Dover Tuesday included: State Senator Bill Powers, CEMC General Manager Chris Davis, Stewart County Mayor Robin Brandon, Dover Mayor Lesa Fitzhugh and several staff from CEMC.
CEMC Head of Engineering Mark Cook said there will be nine substations in the county. Phase 1 will include 9% of the county, installing 1400 miles of fiber, covering 16,000 homes. Phase 2 will be well under way before Phase 1 is finished.
Cook also announced there will be no connection fee, no data limit and the cost will range from $50 – $80, with extra charges if subscribers choose the package with a landline phone and cable options. CEMC is hopeful that the first subscriber will be connected by January.
