BPU Announces Generator Loan Program

Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Board of Public Utilities has approved the launch of a new Generator Loan Program. Through the program, BPU customers can finance a generator directly through the utility. The new program is similar in its merits to the Heating and Cooling Loan Program the utility already offers customers.
“We’re committed to delivering safe and reliable power to our customers every day,” said BPU General Manager Terry Wimberley. “However, power outages can occur, and a major event such as a tornado, ice storm or even a wreck could disrupt utility services for an extended period. As your trusted energy partner, we want to provide our customers with the means to have a power source, even when it cannot be provided by BPU.”
The BPU Generator Loan program offers:

  • Low 6% APR
  • Financing available up to $10,000
  • 10-year payback period
  • Loan repaid monthly through your electric bill
  • No penalties for early payoff
  • No application fee
  • No down payment required
  • Exceptional service
  • No collateral required
  • Free follow-up inspection from BPU after the installation is complete

Customers can choose their installer from a list of BPU Approved Installers which can be found on the BPU website, www.parisbpu.com. The installer will conduct a site evaluation and determine the proper generator size. All installers on the list are authorized by the manufacturer of the generators to sell, install, and service the generator and been reviewed by BPU to insure BPU customers receive quality products/services.

One requirement of the program is that the generator must have a transfer switch. This will insure the generator does not back feed onto BPU’s distribution system. For the safety of both the customers and BPU lineman, the BPU Energy Advisor provides a free follow-up inspection after the installation to test the generator.

Additional information along with an application for the loan can be found at www.parisbpu.com. If you have additional questions or would like to apply to be a BPU Approved Installer, please contact the BPU Energy Advisor, Barry Flood, at 731-642-1322 ext. 159.
