Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Middle School PTO will hold a Tailgate from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday night, before the UC High School home-opening football game against Martin Luther King High School of Memphis.
The event will take place behind the UCHS Turf Building and will include vending from both Smokey Bottom Boys BBQ and Doughsserts. Spirit wear will also be available for purchase.
There will be a dunking booth, featuring administration from both UC Elementary School and UC Middle School administrators and coaches. Assistant Director of Schools Michael Paul Miller will also participate.
Tents with seating will be provided, along with cornhole games. There will also be a set of customized UC cornhole boards for sale through a silent auction.
The will be no cost to enter the Tailgate.

Union City volleyball falls
in matches at Halls Monday
Union City put up a good fight, but fell at Halls in both junior varsity and varsity volleyball play Monday evening.
The varsity dropped a 3-0 decision (25-17, 25-14, 25-16), while the jayvee team was beaten 25-7 and 25-15.
Aubree Keeling had 29 sets, while Anna Lynn Cheatham had six kills for the Lady Tornadoes in the varsity match. Abby Suiter chipped in with four kills.
Cheatham, Suiter, Kaigan Davis and Leah Beth Faulkner were lauded by UC head coach Jody Powell for their play along the front line.
In the junior varsity match, Emma Powell and Erin Oatsvall recorded a dozen and 10 sets to pace the Union City attackers, while Bayleigh Long was good for six kills.
The Lady Tornadoes, now 2-2 in varsity play, host Trenton tonight, jayvee action set to begin at 5 p.m.
Three sports programs benefit
from four-person golf tourney
The baseball, softball and girls’ basketball programs at Union City High School will benefit from a four-person golf scramble at Wynridge Golf Course in Troy on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Both men and women are encouraged to enter the event, which will award cash prizes to the winners and special event prizes.
Lunch will be served after the tournament, with registration set for 7:45 a.m. and players/teams set to tee off at 8:30.
Entry fee is $60 per person and includes golf and lunch.
There are sponsorship opportunities for carts and holes.
