LEXINGTON, KY.– Over the weekend local Auctioneer Junior Staggs competed in the Inaugural “Battle of the Bluegrass” Bid Calling Championship and placed fourth in the national contest. “We created this contest as a fundraiser for the Kentucky Auctioneers Association (KAA) and CASA” said Event Chair Davin Smith.
A total 37 auctioneers from across the country were slated to compete for the coveted title of Champion, in the event held at the Bluegrass Stockyards and Marketplace in Lexington, Kentucky. The event was hosted by the Kentucky Auctioneers Association.
After a preliminary round, where contestants sold 3 items each, 10 finalists were selected for the final round where they had an opportunity to sell 2 more items. “Pound for Pound, this was the toughest contest I’ve ever entered,” Staggs said.
The top five were:
Jonathan Noel Champion (Kentucky)
Brandon Neely Reserve Champion (Alabama)
Cody Shelley 3rd Place (Oklahoma)
Junior Staggs 4th (Tennessee)
Billy Peyton 5th (Ohio)
