Dover, Tenn.—Stewart County K9 Harry now has some much-needed equipment thanks to a grant from the Hero K9 program.
Chief Deputy Dale Ward applied for the grant which provided a kennel insert for Deputy Robbie MacDonald’s patrol unit. The NRA joined in and bought a HOT-N-POP which has two functions. For the HOT part of the equipment, if the vehicle gets 90 degrees or hotter, an alarm goes off and the back window will go down and the air conditioning come on. For the POP part, if Deputy MacDonald is involved in a traffic stop and he needs Harry immediately, he can press a button on a remote control on his belt and the back passenger door pops open and Harry can jump out to help.
Gray’s Garage Owner Casey Bates and his crew installed the HOT-N-POP in Deputy MacDonald’s patrol unit at no charge to the sheriff’s office or county. Sheriff Frankie Gray thanked Bates and his crew. “What a blessing for the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office having the support of the community,” he said.
