Nashville, Tenn.—Smokey, the University of Tennessee mascot, joined Governor Bill Lee as the Bluetick Coonhound became the state dog of Tennessee.
Lee said, “Only fitting to have Tennessee’s favorite bluetick coonhound join us as we celebrate this beloved breed becoming the official state dog of Tennessee. Thanks, Smokey!”
The legislation easily made its way to the governor’s desk and he signed House Bill 999, giving the Bluetick Coonhound its official title.
