Weakley County, Tenn.—A Weakley County man is being held on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drugs after a woman in his care was found injured and confined to a bed with no mattress.
Vincent Edward Henderson, age 52, was taken to the Weakley County Detention Center.
According to Captain Randall McGowan, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call Wednesday evening from a woman at 175 Salmon Road in the Garrett Lake area. The woman said she needed help before her boyfriend/caretaker returned home.
Both EMS and deputies arrived and found the 56-year-old woman was confined to a hospital bed with no mattress. The woman was suffering from several medical conditions and had injuries to her back that required surgery. She was transported to the hospital.
When Henderson returned to the residence and discovered she was gone, McGowan said, he came to Volunteer General Hospital looking for her and after a confrontation with deputies, he was arrested by Investigator Marty Plunk on the aggravated assault charges stemming from the fact he was aware of the victim’s injuries and did nothing to help her.
McGowan said the victim gave permission to deputies to search the house and inside they found meth, marijuana and several loaded guns. The recovered items were located in places inside the house where the woman did not have access.
According to McGowan, Henderson is a convicted felon with a manslaughter conviction in Alabama and was forbidden from owning firearms.
