Union City, Tenn.–The Obion Co. Commission has unanimously approved a $50M budget for the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year–a spending plan which includes no tax increases. The budget was approved 19-0.
Included in the budget is the funding to provide School Resource Officers at all five of the local elementary schools. The School Resource Officers are paid for with a combination of state and local funds.
The proposal was presented to the county budget committee earlier by Sheriff Karl Jackson and Assistant Director of Schools Dale Hallowell. Jackson said providing SROs at all the elementary schools has been a priority for his department.
