McKenzie, Tenn.—McKenzie will be the place to be later this week and into the weekend for the annual Southern Fried and Sweet Tea Festival, from August 22-24.
The festivities begin from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 22, in downtown McKenzie with a community-wide pep rally and tailgate party for the McKenzie Rebels. Everyone is welcome to bring tents and grills and tailgate on Broadway. Some food trucks will be there, too.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, the Southern Fried Funnies will be performed at the Park Theater for $5.
On Friday, August 23, there will be food trucks, crafts, petting zoo, and carnival at Veterans’ Park, starting at 6 p.m. The band “Flashback” will perform.
On Saturday, August 24, the national table tennis tournament will be held at Bethel University; and at 10 a.m., the petting zoo, carnival and crafts will begin at Veterans’ Park. “The Barons” will perform at 5 p.m. in downtown McKenzie, followed by the Bethel Renaissance group at 7 p.m.
