Awaken Northwest Tennessee Kicks Off With Large Crowd

Union City, Tenn. — Over 100 community members, representing nearly 20 churches in Obion County filled the seats of the Capitol Theatre in downtown Union City on Saturday night for the kick-off to Awaken Northwest Tennessee. Awaken Northwest Tennessee is a city-wide movement unifying churches to strategically pray for every person, by name, in the Obion County area over a 30-day period.

The event launches a month-long journey of prayer and fasting designed as a way for individuals to pray in unity for community members.  Each participant receives a prayer packet that includes a daily prayer guide, a list of 15 unique names of people in Obion County, blank postcards, and other helpful resources.

Jeremy Powell, pastor of Crosswind Church and one of the event organizers, is excited about the possibilities of Awaken Northwest Tennessee and the impact it will have on the community.

Powell said, “I have no idea what God is going to do in Awaken Northwest Tennessee but I am fired up to get to see all that He is going to accomplish as we ask Him to awaken our community in His grace and His love.”

Among those speaking at the Awaken kick-off event were Powell, Dr. Jack Long of the Buelah Baptist Association, Reverend Glenn Watts of Union City First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and Pastor Ron Gray of Union City First Church of God.  Music was provided by Matt Crosson, worship pastor at Crosswind Church.

Prayer packets are still available and anyone wanting to participate can email info@awakennwtn.com for more information.
