Union City, Tenn.—While Union City Police were trying to serve a probation violation warrant Friday, two people ended up being arrested on assault on a police officer and resisting arrest charges.
Officers arrived at 618 S. Ury Friday night to serve the warrant on Daniel Currie, age 30. In the course of the arrest, Currie became irate, trying to jerk away and kicking Patrolman Dalton Turnbow. Officers took Currie to the ground to try to get him to calm down and according to the report, Currie finally began to calm down and officers took him to the patrol car. Currie then refused to get in the car, so one officer went to one side of the car to grab Currie’s hands while the other tried to push his feet into the car. He then kicked Patrolman Turnbow twice in the stomach.
Currie is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, in addition to the probation violation.
Meanwhile, Michelle Currie, age 29, refused to allow officers in the house and began yelling, running from officers. Officers chased her back into the house at which time she kicked Patrolman Ben Hudson in the legs and between the legs and he punched her twice in the side. According to the report, once she calmed down she told officers she did not need medical assistance.
Currie was cited for existing arrest and a use of force report was completed by officers.
