LaFollette, Tenn.–The body of Kevin Beyersdofer, age 24, from Cincinnati, has been recovered from Norris Lake at Cedar Creek Bridge. The victim was located by side scan sonar and recovered by divers from Campbell and Anderson Co. Rescue Squads at 3:34 p.m. Saturday.
TWRA Sgt. Roy Smith reported that Beyersdofer jumped into Norris Lake at Cedar Creek Bridge from the top deck of a pontoon boat around 3 p.m. yesterday, went under and never resurfaced. Several people onboard the boat and other bystanders entered the water to search, but were unsuccessful.
Members of the Campbell and Anderson Co. Rescue Squads began a dragging operation in water depths ranging from 45 to 65 feet. They were joined by a TWRA investigator with an underwater Remote Operated Vehicle until the search was discontinued around 1:30 a.m.
The search commenced this morning at 8 a.m. and continues this afternoon. TWRA offers prayers and condolences for Mr. Beyersdofer’s family and friends.
