Much Progress On Eiffel Tower Improvements

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
Paris, Tenn.—A lot of progress has been made this week on the newest improvement project at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The city’s Public Works crew have been busy on the project, which will enhance the Eiffel Tower with sidewalks, a small stage, handicapped accessible upgrades, and signage which directs visitors to other landmarks in Paris.
The city received a Tourism Enhancement Grant of $43,203 from the state. A total 65 applications were received and 27 communities including Paris received grants.
The project is part of an Eiffel Tower Park Master Plan and City Manager Kim Foster said the materials being used are being coordinated with the Splash Pad that will be installed on the other side of the park.
As WENK/WTPR reported earlier, the Eiffel Tower project will add sidewalks around the perimeter of the Tower; add a small stage which can be used for future entertainment events and photo opportunities; and upgrading to make the Tower handicapped accessible.
Foster noted that many out of town visitors make Paris as a destination and always visit the Eiffel Tower for photo ops. The improvements will enhance their travels to Paris, she said.
The project will be completed in the coming weeks.
