Paris, Tenn.–Two more Century Farm families were welcomed into the fold Tuesday night at the annual Century Farms Picnic at the Henry County Fairgrounds.
The Adams Farm and the Howard-Dodd Farm were added to the already lengthy list of Henry County farms that have been owned and farmed by the same family for at least 100 years. Henry County now has 32 Century Farms.
The families were on hand for the event and to see their names added to the Century Farms plaque in the commercial building.
A large number of families whose farms already have been added to the Century Farms list were at the picnic. Amy Hastings of the University of Tennessee Extension Service was the speaker. Miss D’s Kitchen catered the meal.
The primary focus of the Century Farms program is to continue honoring and recognizing the dedication and contributions of families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years. Since its inception, the statewide and ongoing program has more than 1800 certified farms.
