Jaxon Moran Inks Baseball Scholarship

By Mike Hutchens UC Schools Communications Director
Union City, Tenn.–Jaxon Moran is giving baseball one more shot.
Moran, who was hampered by a knee injury his senior season after transferring to Union City from Fulton County, Ky., recently signed scholarship papers to continue his education and baseball-playing career at the University of the Cumberlands.
The slender southpaw was invited to throw at the NAIA school in Williamsburg, Ky., earlier in the summer and impressed the coaching staff enough to earn an offer, he said.
“I just know that regret is a tough thing to live with, and I wanted to give baseball one more chance,” Moran said. “They liked that I threw from the left side. That opened the door for me.”
Moran, who made a 30 on his ACT, said he’d probably redshirt his first year at the NAIA college.
Moran went 2-0 with 14 strikeouts in 18.1 innings in limited playing time.
