Paris Man Dead After Accidental Shooting

Paris, Tenn.—A Paris man is dead after an accidental shooting at his home Tuesday night.
After investigation, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office determined that Byron Johnson, age 20, accidentally shot himself in the head.
Chief Deputy Damon Lowe told WENK/WTPR that Sgt. Jim Sanders was called to the residence on Hwy. 54 around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. Sgt. Sanders called for the EMS and secured two guns at the scene.
Lowe said the investigation was turned over to Investigator Lt. Scott Wyerick who determined that Johnson appeared to be playing with the guns and didn’t realize one was loaded.
Ridgeway Funeral Home has charge of Johnson’s arrangements which will be announced later today.
