Paris, Tenn.– The Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation has awarded the 2019 Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship to Billee Lassiter, daughter of Rodney and Mendi Lassiter of Buchanan.
The Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship is given annually to a student who plans to pursue a healthcare career. The scholarship is a four-year, $6,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from Henry County.
Lassiter plans to study Biochemistry and graduate from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her goal is to become an Epidemiologist or an OB/GYN physician. She began volunteering in the medical field as a Henry County Medical Center Junior Volunteer. She has prepared herself for her future career by signing up for the Health Science Pathway classes while in high school. Lassiter is also a member of multiple school organizations and is an active member in 4-H and the community.
She participated in National Honor Society, Commonwealth Honors Academy, Patriot XL After School Peer Tutor, AP Scholar, and attended Girls State. Lassiter is an active member of Maplewood Baptist Church Youth Group.
“I truly have a passion for helping others, giving my best to obtain my goals, and exceeding my career objectives,” Lassiter said in her application statement.
Lassiter is very passionate about helping others. The Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship will help Lassiter follow her dreams of helping those in need.
