No Injuries In Cypress Bay Boat Fire

Buchanan, Tenn.–No one was injured in a boat fire in Cypress Bay Saturday afternoon.
The Paris Landing Fire Department was dispatched at 3 p.m. to the vicinity of 140 Cypress Heights Lane on the report of a boat on fire. According to Fire Chief Reggie Coles, arriving units found a 30 foot cabin cruiser drifting in the bay with light smoke coming from the engine compartment.
Bystanders told firefighters that everyone was off the boat and had left the scene in another boat.
With assistance from the Paris Henry County Rescue Squad and Calloway County Fire and Rescue, the fire was extinguished and  the boat was towed to shore, Coles said.
The exact cause of the fire has not been determined but appears accidental.  Damage is estimated at $5000.00.
The owner Brian Johnson of Dover could not be reached by the fire department.  Paris Landing had three trucks and eight firefighters on the scene for 1 1/2 hours. Paris Henry  County Rescue Squad had two boats and five personnel on the scene while Calloway County Fire Rescue had three boats and eight personnel on the scene.
