Paris, Tenn.–A crowd of humans and canines let out ‘yippies’ and barks as it was announced Wednesday afternoon that the city of Paris will receive a $25,000 grant for improvements at the Atkins-Porter Dog Park. A group of city officials as well as canines and their owners who use the dog park gathered at Paris City Hall for the announcement this afternoon.
The grant is from the Randy Boyd Foundation’s Dog Park Dash program and will be used to purchase several items needed at the park, including more water fountains for dogs and humans, a water mister and shade covers that will straddle the fencing at the park.
Randy Boyd and his wife made the live stream announcement on Facebook and it was shown at City Hall.
Other local towns in our area receiving $25,000 grants for dog parks include Trenton and Gleason. The $100,000 grants will be given to the cities of Columbia and Cookeville.
City officials have been asking everyone to flood social media with #dogparkdash #ParisTn in a post on Facebook, Instagram and other social media outlets. The dogparkdash organization kept track of any posts that include the hashtag and location to keep track of how much community support there was.
