Paris, Tenn.- As the new school year nears, members of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office conducted active shooter drills at Lakewood School on Tuesday afternoon to hone their skills in a school setting.
Chief Deputy Damon Lowe said, “This is something we try to do when school is out for summer and Christmas breaks and other times of the year to keep officers ready and familiarized with the schools and possibilities of what could happen in an active shooting situation.”
Members of the group portray victims, the shooter or shooters, and members of the responding officers try to quell or diffuse the situation. Deputies will be back at Lakewood Wednesday afternoon for more active shooter drills.
