A Dent Put In 'Major' Drug Distribution Operation By K9, Deputies, Police

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
Paris, Tenn.–Thanks to a newly-certified K9, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Paris Police Department ‘put a dent’ in the drug operation of two local ‘major distributors’.
Xoey, the Belgian Malinois K9 handled by Deputy Hayley French, made her first drug hit Monday and it was a big one.
Deputy Sgt. Jamie Myrick said Xoey “was the key to the whole thing. Hayley has been working on this case for months and it all came together Monday. But Xoey was the ticket that got us this far.”
Arrested were Korey Rick, age 26, and Brooke Myers, age 22, both of 2008 Red Oak Drive, Paris. Both are charged with possession with intent to deliver, engaging in a criminal conspiracy to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Each are being held on $25,000 bonds.
When all was said and done, deputies and police officers seized three vehicles, 100s of vape cartridges containing THC, $13,503, and 10-12 pounds of marijuana.
The first to be arrested was Myers during a traffic stop by Myrick, French and Xoey on Poplar Street. Xoey alerted to the smell coming from the vehicle and they found two large mail boxes containing smaller boxes with packaged high grade marijuana as well as some 150 vape cartridges containing THC.
Meanwhile, Paris Police Investigators Jeramye Whitaker and Derek Colley obtained a search warrant for 2008 Red Oak Dr. where they found several other unopened postal boxes containing small packages of marijuana, a cooler filled with vape cartridges containing THC, $13,010 banded up in a Crown Royal bag, plus more a few hundred more dollars found separately.
Rick was arrested at the Red Oak residence. Two vehicles at that home were seized and the vehicle Myers was driving was seized.
Myrick pointed out that in 2018, Rick was arrested in possession of 10 pounds of marijuana, THC pens, THC wax and other items at the Red Oak Dr. residence by Deputy Dalton Watson, Deputy William Whitaker, Sgt. Blake Jenkins and Paris Patrolman Daniel Andres. Myrick noted that neighbors of the Red Oak Dr. residence have complained of the traffic at that address.
Also on hand for the press conference held Tuesday morning at the Henry Co. Sheriff’s Office were Sheriff Monte Belew and Paris Police Chief Chuck Elizondo.
