Paris, Tenn.–At Thursday night’s Paris City Commission meeting, Finance Director Traci Shannon reported the city saw an increase of 8.89% in retail sales tax revenue for the month of April compared to April of last year. This number pushed the city ahead for the fiscal year to date by .91%.
And, ten new business licenses were issued by the city.
As predicted, Shannon said, the General Fund expenditures exceeded revenues in the month of May. Other than the $521K in principal payments on debt service, the city also had several other large expenses. Those expenses included $114K for the radio project, $29K for Civic Center/KPAC roofing, $54K for software in the Police Department, $71K for the Gerald Howard Pool parking lot, and $23K for drainage repair under Volunteer Drive.
