Murray, Ky. —The trial for the Murray man accused of killing two women in February has been set for September 2020.
Shannon Scott, age 51, was arrested on two charges of first-degree murder, animal cruelty, burglary and tampering with evidence. The victims are Evelyn Scott, 77, and Tera Todd, 37, both of Murray.
At a status hearing in Calloway County Circuit Court, Special Judge Tim Kaltenbach of the McCracken Circuit Court, set the trial date for September 8-25. Calloway County Circuit Judge James Jameson earlier recused himself from the case.
Scott is being held on $2M bond.
According to the sheriff’s office, Scott allegedly forced his way into the home on Catalina Drive and stabbed one of the women multiple times while she was seated in a chair. Police said in the complaint that the woman was his girlfriend and she ran to get help but died in a neighbor’s garage.
According to the complaint, Scott then killed the other woman and killed her dog and then attempted to hide the crime by “mopping, using the shower, and hiding the dog’s body”.
