Free Guided Canoe/Kayak Event At Refuge Saturday

 
The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge extends the invitation for a free Canoeing and Kayaking event held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 13th at Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge.
An easy paddle, led by the refuge manager will be offered on Long Creek area of the refuge located in Stewart County. Packed with wildlife and interesting features, this large bay is a favorite with small boaters due to its natural beauty. Birds are plentiful in this area including Osprey, Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Green Herons and the occasional bald eagle. A limited number of free canoes and kayaks will be available, along with paddles and adult life preservers. No prior experience is necessary, but participants need to be prepared for sun exposure and wear shoes that can get wet. Please bring water, sun screen and wear a hat. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants may also bring their own equipment.
All participants are asked to meet at the refuge office/visitor center located at 643 Wildlife Road in Dover, TN at 9:00 am.  Limited space is available, to reserve your spot please RSVP by calling the refuge office at 731-642-2091.
