Union City, Tenn.–McKenzie High School Principal Tim Watkins has been named the new Obion County Director of Schools.
At a special meeting Monday night, Watkins was hired on a 5-2 vote.
The board earlier had narrowed the field of candidates to two finalists: Watkins and former Clay County Schools Superintendent Dr. Gary Gibson (Hayesville, N.C.).
Before the vote Monday night, the board conducted final interviews with the pair.
