Mayfield, Ky.–A Mayfield man who was being sought by police was found dead in rural Graves County Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday afternoon approximately 1:45 pm Lowell Tommy Hunter Jr. , age 60, was found inside a vehicle in a rural remote wooded area off of KY339 in the Lowes community of Graves county.
Hunter was deceased when located.
According to the press release, Sheriff Jon Hayden and Deputies Steve Halsell and John Cavin responded along with Mayfield Graves County EMS. The preliminary investigation determined that his death was the result of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Graves County Coroner Brad Jones and Deputy Tim Warren also responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation. The Coroner’s office worked throughout the afternoon and evening attempting and eventually making contact with Hunter’s next of kin.
Hunter was being sought by the Mayfield Police Department regarding an assault that had occurred in recent days.
