Wide Trailer Takes Down Multiple Poles, Takes Out Internet Service For Area

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
McKenzie, Tenn.—Why was the internet down in our area all day? A wide trailer took down multiple poles at the intersection of Hwy. 79 and Hwy. 22 in McKenzie at 11:25 a.m. Saturday and as of 5:30 p.m., crews with Spectrum Cable and TDOT were still working on the problem.
Spectrum identified 20 circuits in the system with loss of service.
Hwy. 22 was closed all day and crews from TDOT and the city of McKenzie were stationed for hours blocking off the entrances and exits at Hwy. 22.
The McKenzie Police posted around noon that the highway would be closed until close to dark due to the downed power lines on both sides of the highway and they asked everyone to avoid the area.
The problem adversely affected multiple businesses in the area.
