High Water To Pose Challenges For Some "Jam" Venues This Weekend

By Shannon McFarlin News Director
Buchanan, Tenn.—High water will pose some challenges at this weekend’s Tennessee River Jam and Froggyfest venues on Kentucky Lake.
Owners of The Breakers, where performances will be held Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings, announced that changes have been made to their venue to work around the high water.
And at Paris Landing State Park, where Froggyfest will be held Saturday, Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce Director Travis McLeese said this morning boaters watching the festivities from the water will just need to be mindful and stay away from the swim barricades.
At the Breakers, owners said, “As some of you may already know, the water is rising and is already above summer pool. And you know what that means for us. So here’s what you need to know – we have built a really great ramp so you can get to/from the marina without getting wet”
“Water is likely to be in the parking lot a little which will limit the number of parking spaces,” they said, “so you will have to use the upper parking lot. But, we will do our best to provide shuttle service to and from the upper parking lot and the marina. Just please be patient with us & come on down and let’s enjoy the 1st annual Tennessee River Jam & visit as many venues as you can.”
Friday night at The Breakers, Josh McKee, Johnny Mac and The Wilson Brothers will perform at 7 p.m.; on Saturday at 2 p.m., they will host Trick Pony’s Keith Burns and Will Dakota and at 9 p.m., River Dan will perform. On Sunday at the Breakers, Olivia Faye, John and Randall will perform at 3 p.m.
Speaking Friday morning from Paris Landing State Park, where volunteers have been busy setting up the venue for Froggyfest, McLeese said boaters “need to be aware that they cannot pass the normal swim barricades. The problem is, they can’t see where the swim barricades are normally marked because the water is over them. They just need to be careful and not get too close to the beach areas. Also, they can’t dock on land.”
As we reported earlier, this is a big weekend with the Tennessee River Jam and Froggyfest presenting three days of music with 12 concerts and 22 artists starting today and going through Sunday.
The Tennessee River Jam begins today at noon with a performance by Ethan Torsak and the Old Spirits at Ace’s Pizza in Paris. McLeese reminded everyone to bring their lawn chairs to Ace’s, the refuge tonight and other venues.
Tickets can be ordered online or at the door at the various venues.
