Obion Co. Director Of Schools Finalists Narrowed To Watkins, Gibson

Union City, Tenn.—The search for the next Obion County Director of Schools has been narrowed down to two finalists.
Meeting in an early-morning special session today, the board narrowed the field to: McKenzie High School Principal Tim Watkins and former Clay County Schools Superintendent Dr. Gary Gibson (Hayesville, N.C.).
The vote on narrowing the candidates was by individual ballot. A motion made early in the meeting to vote to hire a candidate today, but that motion was not approved.
The interviews of Watkins and Gibson will be held Monday, July 1, at Obion County Central High School. Watkins will be interviewed at 6 p.m., followed by Gibson at 7 p.m.
A special meeting will be held at 8 p.m. that night to name a new Director of Schools.
The final candidates were interviewed earlier this week. They included Obion Co. Special Education Director Dr. Greg Barclay, Millington Central High Principal Dr. Donald Durley.
